This post was written in collaboration with The Radh, a hotel located in the heart of Kandy, Sri Lanka, where Cris and I were kindly invited to join their one-year anniversary celebration.
A one truly special experience that Cris and I had when we were in Sri Lanka was the opportunity to stay at The Radh in Kandy.
The Radh Hotel, designed by Nandika Denipitiya, is the latest venture by Icon Hotels, the hospitality arm of the Conmix Group of Companies.
Not only were we excited to be in such a beautiful hotel located in the heart of Kandy, but we were also there on the day they were celebrating a very special date: Their 1 year anniversary since their inauguration.

Because of that occasion, we were invited to join them in their High Tea event that would be taking place the day that we arrived.
They explained to us that their idea is to make this a once a month event and that this would be the first time ever that they would be doing this, so they were excited to hear our thoughts about it.
The Hotel
Let’s start with a hotel overview, so you are aware of what to expect when you go to this fantastic hotel.
The Radh, which reflects the meaning of royal, is a luxury boutique hotel, located in the heart of Kandy (walking distance to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and the market of Kandy).
So if you value being well-located when you travel, The Radh would be perfect for you.
If you’ve ever been to Kandy, you will understand just how hectic the city is, so stepping into the Radh is like taking in a breath of fresh air to take a break from the city chaos (and frankly, we appreciated the change of ambiance for a bit).
The property is not exactly large, but big enough to offer comfort, and the hotel is meticulously decorated with luxurious ornaments all around. From the well-designed wallpaper to the stunning furniture and the breathtaking hand-carved lotus flowers carefully placed over the door of the rooms are all elements that truly make The Radh such a special hotel
Its interior design and decor are reflective of the motifs that are unique to the Kandyan Kingdom, making it a perfect fusion of tradition and contemporary.
You’ll probably also be happy to know that The Radh is eco-friendly and well-thought-out in every detail. Everything from the straws used to the toothbrushes is biodegradable (nothing was wrapped in plastic).
The Rooms
Our room was modern and minimal, yet boasting Sri Lankan charm, decorated with hardwood furniture and parquetry floors. We threw ourselves onto the bed to relax a bit after a frenzied tuk-tuk ride, and I immediately noticed just how comfortable the mattress and pillows were as our heads delicately sunk into its plush feathers.

(A detail that is worth mentioning is that the beds have 4 pillows: 2 soft and 2 harder, for you to pick according to your personal preference). I, in particular, love soft pillows, and I smiled with bliss as I enjoyed relaxing my head after such a busy day.
The Radh offers 30 luxurious rooms:
- Executive King SuitPremier King Suite – The one we stayed in
- The Radh Premier Suite
- The Radh Royal Suite
- The Garden Suite – Offers a private pool
- The Radh Family Suite
- The Rah Royal Suite
- Offers and Facilities

The hotel also offers everything you’d expect from a typical luxurious hotel:
- Spa + Steam room + Sauna
- Gym
- 1 restaurant
- 24h service
- In-room dining
PS- It is important to highlight that there is no swimming pool in this hotel. However, there are options for having a private pool, in case you decide to stay in one of their suite rooms.
The High Tea
Forget your traditional brunch: Eating at odd hours doesn’t get more delicious than indulging an afternoon tea.

Picture endless tables of food that please even the pickiest eater.
Yes, It’s all here: from a selected variety of Ceylon tea tasting, shrimp rolls, and finger sandwiches, to chocolate fountains, fresh-cut fruits, and uniquely presented desserts. If you like trying out as many different things as you can, then High Tea is something you will love.

Perhaps the best of it is the staff’s respect of the afternoon tea tradition, which should be something to be leisurely savored, not rushed through.
You come to The Radh’s High Tea to be spoiled. And that’s what they’re best at.
The Staff
Offering impeccable service from the moment you check in to the second you leave the hotel, their attentive staff if clearly well trained to offer top-notch experiences to every guest. We felt welcomed and taken care of at all times of our stay.

Conclusion
Would I stay again at the Radh if I went back to Kandy? Definitely yes. The luxurious hotel details, the excellent service provided and the comfortable rooms all give us a sense of escape all the while staying right in the middle of the frenzied city of Kandy.

And if you are ever in town when they host their high tea, then you have another very good reason why you should spend the night there.
