20’s are soooooo last year!
In fact, turning 30 feels amazing!!
It’s an important milestone that deserves to be celebrated. However, now that you’re approaching the big 3.0 the usual a pub crawl just isn’t going to cut it anymore, nor will those bottles of tequila on your kitchen counter (keep in mind that hangovers in your thirties are also quite distinct from when you were twenty).
No, you don’t need any of that!
It’s a time to celebrate the end of your wild, rum and coke-filled twenties and cheap wine selection, and all you need is an event that honors the sophisticated woman you’ve become!
I know for one that I wanted to do something memorable, fun and elegant, and back then it was extremely tricky to think of anything that could fit that genre.
That is why today I decided to create a list of unique ideas to celebrate your 30s like a queen that you are!
Host a brunch
I will start with what I did for my own 30th: a self-hosted Sunday brunch at my house, complete with balloons, flowers, and Mimosas, of course.
I went a bit overboard and bought a lot of food to host this event.
Picture toasts with avocados, colorful fruit platters, croissants and jams, cold cuts, smoked salmon tranches, cookies, crackers, Nutella, phew. The list can go on and on.

On top of it all, I bought many beautiful (and classy) balloons to decorate the house and some pink and white flowers to match my balloons.
If you want to add an extra touch to your decoration, consider inflatables as an alternative to classic balloons and flowers. For example, custom made inflatable bottles will be perfect for a party that has a lot of drinks. They can serve as the main decoration for your 30th birthday and add an element of fun to the event. Inflatables come in all shapes and sizes, so you can choose the perfect one to fit your party theme. You can also have them custom-made to match your specific desires.
It was a beautiful event that lasted all day long. My guests particularly enjoyed drinking the Mimosas, which were fun and easy to make (in case you don’t know, Mimosas are simply a mix of orange juice and Champagne, the perfect combo for a birthday brunch).
PRO TIP: I decorated the mimosas with tiny bits of strawberry inside the glasses, for a more glam look.
Host a Pajama Party
This might seem silly, but hear me out!
What’s best than celebrating the new age with some nostalgia and a revamp? This is a particularly fun event if you have mostly friends who are girls, or if you want to make a woman-only event.

Dress code: Ask your girlfriends to glam up with the pajamas! I am talking about silk baby dolls, eye masks, fluffy heels, and all the fun stuff.
PS – If you feel self-conscious, or if it winter and cold, another option is to have a onesie party!
Change the pizza that you’d normally order in your twenties for some takeaway sushi. Forget the cheap wine, invest in quality this time! Why not get some champagne (use actual glass instead of plastic). Even better, why not create some homemade cocktails with your girls?
While you drink and chat, why not make some face masks, eye cremes, hair curls, etc. Press play on your DVD collection of Sex & the City and leave it on in the background.
Have fun and take plenty of polaroids and give them away to your friends as souvenirs. Become the glam version of your twenties. You deserve it!
Stay in a hotel with your friends
Adding up to my prior point, why not take the pajama party to the next level and spend a night in a hotel room with your friends? Nowadays it is so much harder to gather the entire crew, either someone has a wedding or could not find a sitter.
However, the good news is that you don’t necessarily need to travel to treat yourself to a hotel stay with your best friends. Order some in-room dining, indulge the bathrobes and do a few facemasks while sipping your favorite drink.

Remember that hotel in your city that you’ve always admired from the outside? Now it is your chance to enjoy it as a guest. Book a superior suite (share the cost with your friends if needed.
It is best to have experiences than gifts!

TIP – Be sure to inform them it is your birthday; they might offer you a treat.
Get an AIRBNB

Alternatively, AIRBN can also be a wonderful way to host a party in a ‘’private venue’’ that is not your own home. opt for a glamorous one. If they have a pool, even better!
Go Glamping
Glamp is a mix of Glam + Camp and it is proving itself a popular experience amongst millennials who wish for adventure, all the while remaining in a comfortable situation (AKA, me!).
To me, the best way to enjoy Mother Nature is in style (and that means having a proper shower and toilet options as a bare minimum).
I did glamping once in Morocco with my ex in the middle of the Sahara Desert. It was such s great experience which I will never forget about. We had dinner under the night sky seemingly overbooked with stars.
Honestly, I have never seen a sky like that before. It was one of the most romantic dinners I’ve had to that point. Once we were done, we had a huge tent for ourselves (those were you can easily stand and walk around, with an improvised bed built for us).
And don’t fool yourself thinking the party ends when you go to sleep. Having breakfast in the middle of the desert the next morning is just as extraordinary.
TIP: You don’t have to go to Morocco to Glamp. Simply research what are the glamping sites near you that offer superior amenities.

SPA AWAY
What’s better for your birthday than pampering yourself? Get a facial, book a full body massage (and then a foot massage, why not?), get a mani and a pedi, and spend an afternoon going in and out of a steam room with your friends or your partner.

WINE TASTING
What’s a better venue to commemorate the big 3.0 than at a vineyard? It may also be worth it to book a hotel stay nearby so you and your friends can savor the day and not worry about driving back home.

CHEESE AND WINE EVENT
Alternatively, you can host your own wine degustation event.
I did this when I lived in Switzerland and OMG it was a blast! All I did was ask my guests to bring their favorite bottle of wine and a block of their preferred cheese, and I would take care of the rest.

Needless to say, it was one of my most successful events. We had so many varieties of cheese and wine that everyone could try different options.
TIP – be sure to increment the party by buying different jams, crackers, grapes, etc. Don’t forget something sweet for the sweet tooth!
PRIVATE KARAOKE
As we say in Brazil, ‘’those who sing scare away their fears’’ and what is the best way to enter the new decade than singing away all your problems?

Don’t judge karaoke before you’ve tried it, trust me. If you manage to get a private karaoke room, even better. As soon as the alcohol starts kicking in, your inner Freddie Mercury will come out. And you will LOVE IT!
DIY PIZZA PARTY
I know I said to stay away from cheap pizzas during your 30th birthday, however, hear me out. Hosting a DIY pizza party not only is much fancier than ordering 2×1 Domino’s, but it is also A LOT of fun (and needless to say much tastier too).
All you need to do is prepare the pizza dough, buy a variety of ingredients and let your imagination flow.
In case you need extra inspiration, I found a great article from another blog to inspire you. Find it here.
BOOK A PRIVATE ROOM IN A RESTAURANT
In case you wish to celebrate your party elsewhere from your home, another good idea to do something out of the ordinary is to find a nice restaurant that has private rooms.
This is a great way to enjoy some privacy while at the same time having a big group of people to join.

TIP: Bring some balloons with you to decorate the ambiance a bit.
HIGH TEA
You can either attend high tea at a luxury hotel nearby or simply take matters into your own hands and throw your own tea party at home, complete with cucumber sandwiches and finger food sweets.

Be sure to display the food in fancier china, if you have them. Use cloth napkins instead of paper. Details as such can really make a huge difference for your event.
And that is a wrap guys!

Are you turning 30? How do you feel about it? Did you already turn 30? How did you celebrate? Let me know in the comments!
