Hi girls, how are you today?
Are you usually an early bird or a night owl?
I personally LOVE being awake early in the morning.
In the mornings there are less people on the street, thus you can perceive the stores slowing opening one after the other, and you can even hear the birds peacefully singing somewhere in the horizon (depending on where you live, of course).
If you inhale deeply, you can smell the scent of fresh bread being brought out the oven from the small vendor at the end of the street.
There is nothing like having a little morning routine.

Wake up and Show up
First let’s get the most difficult out of the way: getting out of bed!

This is the first mindset you have to take care of (and probably the hardest one in the list).
Most of us don’t like getting up before the alarm and would most probably opt to stay in sleeping a few minutes (or even hours) more.
However, dominating the mindset that by getting up you will achieve more, you will see how your life will change. There is no need to put too much pressure on yourself, though. Take it one day at a time.
Don’t put pressure on your mind or body, but do try and change your morning mindset. All you need is to take it one day at a time. Waking up 10 minutes earlier each day can have huge long-lasting positive impacts on your life.
Taking things one day at a time is a fantastic lesson that I read from the best-selling book Atomic Habits, by James Clear (I strongly recommend this book if you want to break bad habits and create healthier ones)

A tip before getting out of bed
Before you get out of bed…It is CRUCIAL to take time to STRETCH! (even if just a little bit)
Take 3 minutes to stretch your body, elongate your arms and legs, your torso. Lay in bed for an extra 30 seconds to let your body appreciate the new found flexibility, and you’re ready to start your day.
Do you have pets, such as a dog or a cat? Have you ever noticed that animals never simply wake up and walk away? They will always elongate their body and stretch for a few seconds. It’s in their instinct to do so and I believe we can all benefit from learning by observing mother nature.
As well, stretching once you’re out of bed can have immense benefits to your body such as relieving any tension or pain from sleeping the night before. It also helps increase your blood flow and prepares your body for the day ahead.
Here is a great video with 10 morning stretching exercises for you to start doing today.
Make Your Bed
The act of making our bed in the morning might seem something small and not really as important as getting ready and being on time.
Sometimes we don’t do it because we’re in a hurry, and most of the times because we’re feeling lazy.
However, making our bed every day can be more important than we think.
” If you make your bed every morning you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride and it will encourage you to do another task and another and another. ” – William McRaven, the commander of U.S Special Operations, in a 2014 commencement speech at University of Texas at Austin
In simple words, according to William, making your bed might seemingly be an insignificant accomplishment, but it’s very important because it sets the tone for the entire day.
Plus, there is no better feeling than arriving home to an organized room and clean bed. Nothing worst than being greeted by a huge mess at the end of a busy day.
Be a grown up woman and be mindful to make up your bed.

Drink Plenty of Fluids
Water
Everyone knows drinking water as soon as you wake up has heaps of health benefits. However, are you aware of what these benefits are?
- Water helps boost your metabolism for the day. It basically let’s your body know that you’re awake and it’s time to go and burn some calories.
- Over the course of an eight hour sleep, you body has built up toxins that are in desperate need to be released. This can range anywhere from your brain to your digestive tract. Thus, drinking water on an empty stomach helps to uncloud the brain of toxin buildup, while also aiding you in digestion
- Lastly, drinking water first thing in the morning can release these toxins from your bloodstream and help keep your skin clear and glowing. Yaaaay!
Know that your height and weight will affect how much water you should be intaking daily. If you ever have any doubts wether you are drinking less water than you should, I found this really handy calculator that helps you instantly find your ideal level of hydration.
Lemon Water
Wanna take your morning water intake a step further? Experts recommend starting your day by drinking a glass of warm water with lime or lemon juice.
In fact, it is said that warm citrus water the best to wake up your body’s digestion in the mornings, as the lemon juice helps with your metabolism (being a great plus if you aim to lose weight).
Think of warm water as when we throw hot water down a drain. That hot water helps remove all the gunk that is stuck there, and clears the pipes. It is the same with your body.

Aloe Juice
We all know that applying Aloe Vera on our skin topically can help to restore any dryness and heal burns. However, are you aware that drinking aloe juice (or simply aloe mixed with water), is not only a great way to hydrate yourself, but as well as load your system up with vitamins.
With beneficial and healing vitamins such as E, B, and C, women can count on Aloe Juice to give us healthy glowing skin.
Meditate
Don’t roll our eyes until you’ve tried mediation.
Before I ever gave it a try, it always seemed to me one of those things hippies would do in temples in Bali.
Truth be told, I never really understood it.
It wasn’t until 2013 when I had panic attacks for the first (and hopefully last) time in my life, that I was introduced to mediation and boy, oh boy, was it game-changing.

That was when I learned about mindfulness, which is a type of mediation where you focus on being aware. Be it aware of your breathing, of your body, of your thoughts and living the present, not allowing the past of future stress us.
Meditation had a huge impact in my life. I used to suffer from anxiety and it really blinded me during my teens and early twenties.
Nowadays I am much more under control of my emotions and how I feel, and, to my mind, I became a much better person because of this.
Mediation doesn’t have to take a lot of time. You can apply the principle from before here too: start with a 5 minutes mediation session and see how you feel. Gradually increase the minutes as you go and you will see great improvements.
Eat
Make breakfast a sacred time of the day!

That does not necessarily mean that you have to eat a lot. I for one am not one to indulge on food during breakfast, but I do try to intake both healthy and nutritious food every morning.
My personal breakfast revolves around a yogurt, with flaked pumpkin and sunflower seeds, and some Chia seeds. I mix it all up and that keeps me well until lunch time, believe it or not (the magic of Chia seeds!!).
If I feel hungry that morning, I will complement it with banana or strawberry slices (or both! Yum!).

What’s important is to take the time to enjoy making yourself a nourishing fuel that keeps you alive and energized.
Another tip is to try and eat your breakfast being as mindful as possible, meaning eating without any distractions – TV or gadgets. I enjoy taking time to think good thoughts and intentions, while appreciating my nourishing breakfast.
Other great alternatives are fresh and rich smoothies to start the day; mixed cereal bowls; oatmeal with fruits, etc.
Having a morning routine with such a rich breakfast is another thing that makes us look forward to waking up earlier.
In fact, it is said that warm citrus water the best to wake up your body’s digestion in the mornings, as the lemon juice helps with your metabolism (being a great plus if you aim to lose weight).
Plus, you could also add a spoonful of honey to your lemon water for an additional boost of sweetness. Honey has a wide range of health benefits and nowadays you can even purchase different types of honey that have been infused with extra vitamins and minerals. With this in mind, you can find some unique honey products to try by browsing the Gold Bee Online Store.

Read
Remember the days when we used to cuddle on the couch under a blanket with a good book?
Do you remember the smell of a good, ol’ book?
Heck, do you even remember what a book even is?
Technology has impaired even the biggest of the book works to ignore our literary friends. Use the morning to disconnect with viscous social media habits, turn off your phone and get a book.
The key here is not to pressure yourself into reading a big chunk, but small bits every day. Maybe 10 pages before dressing up and going to work.

Take this second moment to reconnect with yourself and your old (good) habits.
Listen to Motivational Podcasts
Not a fan of reading? Try a podcast!
Podcasts are the new way to absorb valuable information while not doing much. Contrary to books, I enjoy listening to Podcasts on the go and when I find spare time in my day (be it because I am queuing at the bank, or organizing the house).
Podcasts are great for multitasking while learning.
However, if you still want a good intake of motivation and knowledge to start your day, Podcasts should be your thing in your morning routine.

Dress Up
Don’t be a slouch in robes, sweatpants and dirty socks all day (as tempting as that might be, especially if you work from home).

It might seem unnecessary, but with time you might start feeling demotivated. It is crazy how taking care of ourselves (even in the smallest of ways) can be rewarding and impactful towards how we go on with our day.
Remember, at La Belle Society we also aim to be more elegant ladies. And taking the time to prep yourself for the day, even if no one else will see you, is also a part of becoming more self-aware and taken for granted.
It is really important to take care of yourself, dress up for yourself, no matter what are you doing and where are you doing it. We should be the first person valuing our body and overall appearance.
Take time to choose a great outfit (even if that means a clean pair of stay at home pants (not sweatpants), socks and shirt every day).

Basic Grooming
The last morning beauty habits I will cover is of course about your morning grooming efforts.
Take care of your skin by cleaning it first thing when you wake up. Add serums and finish off with a hydrating creme for the face and eyes (don’t forget the holy grail: sunscreen!). Brush your teeth, comb your hair, and apply some makeup (even if only mascara and blush).
