10 MUST-KNOW SMART WAYS TO ORGANIZE YOUR HOME
#1 Set Your Timer

Let’s start with the basics: one of the most efficient ways to organize your home is by setting a time to be done with.
Indeed. the first thing about being strategic is setting a time limit that you want to invest in cleaning. When we have a set time, we tend to do things more efficiently as opposed to stalling.
Having a set time also keeps us motivated and engaged to finish it before running out of time, thus many times guaranteeing to finish the house-cleaning task in a much shorter time span.
This can also be a great way to involve the kids and turn cleaning into a fun family game!
#2 Have a “Doesn’t Belong” Basket

This is a HUUUUUUUUUGE hack.
As you’re running around the house, keep a laundry basket with you to fill with things that don’t belong. Once you’re done cleaning, put back all of the things you’ve found that don’t belong to their proper place.
I cannot stress enough how much time this saves! So often when I am cleaning I get stuck with minimal things, and these also make it difficult to really see what needs to be tackled first.
Give this a try and see how much faster your cleaning habit will be.

#3 Cleaning Supply Basket

To maximize efficiency, keep all of your cleaning supplies in a convenient cleaning supply basket, or even just a plastic bucket around you. This way you will not be running around trying to find everything you need, thus saving precious time.
#4 Load Up the Dishwasher

Load up the dishwasher with all of the dirty dishes and let the non-dishwasher safe kitchenware soaking in hot water while you clean the rest of the house.
The same tip applies to your laundry. The first thing you do should be to place the dirty laundry in the machine, so by the time you finish cleaning, you can transfer it to the drier and call it a day.
#5 Carry a Garbage Bag

Similar to the “Doesn’t Belong Basket” for items that can be relocated, carry a garbage bag with you to throw out the trash and garbage you find throughout the house. That way you can easily remove clutter and garbage swiftly and efficiently, focusing your time on reorganizing the essential items that won’t be thrown away.
#6 Vacuum High Traffic Areas

If you’re limited on time, focus on vacuuming the highly trafficked areas of your home such as corners, hallways, door entrance, and anywhere with apparent dirt and hair.
#7 A Quick Dust

Dusting feels so fabulous. I almost feel like one of those French maids when I take my duster out for a quick house whip. Dusting all of the areas where dust is visible, (i.e. counters and bookshelves), will help to spruce up your home and remove all those dust bunnies.
It is honestly crazy how much better the house looks simply by doing a quick dusting session.
#8 Wipe Mirrors

A quick spray and wipe over bathroom mirrors go a long way. Don’t miss this step and see how your bathroom transforms (take the same cloth and quickly wipe the sink and tap while you’re at it. There is no need to overthink this step).
#9 Wipe Surfaces

Spraying and wiping down any surfaces including your countertops, cabinets, tables, appliances, toilets, tub, etc is a quick and easy way to clean your house.
I learned this from observing my OCD boyfriend and started applying it to my daily life. SO whenever I arrive t my office the first thing I do is use hand gel and a paper to quickly swipe my desk, keyboard, screen, and general workspace.
I feel it looks cleaner and more organized, making it easier to work.
#10 Strip the Beds, Fluff the Pillows

Another thing that I learned from dating someone with OCD: Changing your sheets, carefully folding your throws, and fluffing and straightening the pillows is a quick way to clean your living room couch and bedrooms, making them look cleaner and tidier with very little effort.
Whether it’s spring cleaning season or not, it’s always a good time to try out some time-saving cleaning hacks. So give these a try and let us know how it goes!
