What Are The Must-Have Kitchen Utensils
OXO Good Grips Small Cookie Scoop — Best invention ever! My cookie scoop changed my life. If you want to wow people with your Christmas cookies, buy this.
It seriously makes perfectly round cookies every time.
Like these perfect chocolate chip cookies below.
Don’t stop with sweet recipes. I also use this for perfect meatballs (yea, once you date an Italian you do your meatballs from scratch and with a lot of butter). And if you’re thinking you should buy a cheap one, don’t!
My friend has a cheap one at her house and every time I use it I want to start cursing. It’s terrible. Pay the extra money and get this one. It’s worth it.
As we say in Brazil ‘’what comes cheap can also be expensive in the long-term’’
Muffin Scoop — Another great scoop that can be used for muffins, larger cookies, pancakes, and waffles.
This is an item I am using a lot lately as Cris for some reason has a weird cupcake obsession and we never find cupcakes in Barcelona (I know, sounds crazy but it is true). In fact, just last night we had a midnight cupcake batch.
Pampered Chef Garlic Press — Worth. Every. Penny. I LOVE my PC Garlic Press! I hate the smell of garlic on my hands so much!! I’ve tried the cheap ones at IKEA and Target and this one wins hands down.
Moreover, I’ve had it for years and it has held up great, making it a perfect gift for Christmas or weddings.
Manual Food Chopper – I bought a similar one of these for 5 euros in a store in Barcelona a few years back and I am surprised to announce that, to this day, I still use it on a daily basis. Plus, it has sped up my cooking rhythm.
Cutco Knife Set – I adore my knives! I use all of them on a regular basis. It has been 5 years and they are still incredibly sharp! Expensive…yes, but worth every penny!
If you want to invest in only ONE good knife that can do it all, then I’d definitely go for the 7-Inch Santoku Knife. This knife speeds up my prep time and I believe is a necessity in every kitchen.
High-Heat Scraper — Do not buy the curved ones. They are so hard to use and the food gets stuck in the curve. Buy the flat ones.
Of course, they are always kept next to our beautiful coordinating Kitchen Aid.
Olive Wood Spatula — These are more functional than the rounded one. Have you ever tried to efficiently scrap something off the bottom of a pan with a rounded edge? The difference is crazy!
Olive wood and bamboo spatulas are my 2 favorites.
Important: You CANNOT wash these in the dishwasher. Take the 30 seconds and wash them by hand.
Pizza Cutter — For more than just pizza. Do you have little kids? You know what I’m talking about. I go for the cheap one but I’m sure there are people out there who swear by the expensive ones.
Multi-Purpose Kitchen Shears — Here I’d recommend going for the cheaper ones. This pair is right around $5 with free shipping at the time this post was published.
OXO Good Grips Locking Tongs — The golden tip here is to make sure you get 12-inch. I find the short ones to be harmful when trying to cook bacon, for example (pancake Sundays, yay) and I also prefer the ones with nylon heads. I really love this brand and it’s a great price for a quality product.
Quality Steel Cookware set – In my opinion, one should also invest in a good steel cookware set. Doing this will not only help make great dishes but also have safe containers to cook food in as well
