Hi girls, how are you today?
Lately, more than ever, we are all seemingly finding ideas to stay entertained, healthy and fit, all while staying inside our homes, to hopefully stop this global health crisis from further spreading.
Times have been strange, my friend, I’ll give you that. I live in Spain and we had nothing less than than 4 whole months being locked inside last year, only being allowed out to walk your dog (if you’re lucky to have one).
With that mind, I decided it would be a good idea to hopefully inspire some you who are also exhausted of staying home (and who could use a pamper day without spending a lot of money going to an actual Spa).
The best part is, with these ideas you can have a Spa day experience as often as you’d like.
All you need to do is set up some essential items and have a delicious self-care day at home, alone or with your partner.
After all, since we cannot go out on vacation, we might as well try to enjoy our ‘’staycation’’ as best as possible.
These easy DIY Spa day at home ideas are perfect to unwind and relax from the comfort of your own house/apartment.

Setting Up Your DIY Spa
Before we dive into the variety of the different ways in which you can treat yourself at your DIY home Spa, it is important you set the mood.
Be it if you’re doing this for yourself, for a fun girls night in, or a romantic couple’s evening during lockdown (wink wink), it is fundamental to set up the mood right.
1.1 Scented Candles and Fragrance Oils
I bet the first thing you think of when you think of a Spa are those aromatic smells, such as eucalyptus or citric smells in general.
A big part of how good you feel inside a Spa is related to our sense of sight and smell.
Dim the light and put on some aromatic candles of your preference (or scented oils, if preferred. You can burn them in this delicate set. salt lamp, which helps purify the air while providing a perfect focal point to help you relax.
1.2 Put on some music
Next, be sure to put on some relaxing music. Nature sounds or even soothing classic music are both great choices,
Put on your essential oils diffuser with some nice relaxing essential oils.
Self-Care Tip
We all enjoy relaxing while using our phones. I know.
However, unfortunately, there is a lot of bad news out there lately and my WhatsApp group of friends is starting to give me anxiety with all the updates going on in the outside world.
Considering how much we are all using the internet lately due to the quarantine situation, I strongly recommend using this moment to turn your phone off so you can disconnect a bit.
1.3 Refresh
Set yourself a coffee table with nice, healthy drinks such as a sleepy tea.
Other options are to bring in a jar with fruit infused water. I’d suggest either cucumber with ice or warm water with lemon juice.
Not a fan of fruit-infused water? Bring in your favorite tea inside a thermal bottle so it doesn’t cool down before you have a chance to drink it.

Before You Start
A set of 2 soft, clean towels are a must when you give yourself a spa treatment.
I highly recommend investing in a Turkish cotton bath towel – they are said to be goddess–like yet are more affordable than Egyptian cotton (the joy of hotel room towels without the hefty price tag.)
To complete the set: bring in a fluffy bathrobe (or silk, if it is warm where you live), clean slippers, a fresh pair of underwear and a clean pair of pajamas.

Cleanse First
Now that we’ve gone over how to prepare the mood and the entire home Spa aesthetic, be sure to clean up your face from all the gunk that is ingrained into your pores.
I am personally a HUGE fan of the 10-steps Korean Skincare Routine (the first 3 steps alone relate to cleansing).

Take a calming Spa bath/shower
Before you go on to apply your skincare products, be sure to take a nice warm bath/shower
For those who have bathtubs
There is a variety of ways to turn your bathtub into a spa bath such as adding bubbles, putting rose petals in the bath, lighting candles and adding a cushion for your head.
Self-Care Tips:
- The correct mineral salts are very important. Add these special mineral salts for the ultimate experience.
- Bring a book
- Get out of the bathtub and splash yourself with this spa bucket of mineral water.
For those who have showers
I get it, not everyone has a bathtub at home (I don’t), but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the wonders of the cleansing phase.
Try hanging some eucalyptus leaves inside your shower box before you go in. It will do you wonders. Also use this moment to scrub your body, face, and feet.
Self-Care Tip:
Have you ever showered in the dark? There is nothing quite like it and it is such a great mindful experience. Light a few candles so you’re not in complete darkness, but this will certainly change from your normal daily showers.
Pro Tip: Give yourself a DIY facial steamer to unclog your pores I wrote all about how you can easily do one at home in this post.
10 Things To Do During Your At-Home Spa
1) Get a relaxing massage
You can either give yourself a massage, get someone to give you a massage, or use a massage machine.
I adore this massage machine and it’s very affordable too.
2) Do a hair mask
Another of the great Spa day at home ideas is having a long-lasting hair mask.
Hair masks are highly hydrating treatments with oils and other nourishing ingredients. Because of that, the product spends more time sinking into and nurturing hair than your average shampoo or conditioner, giving dramatic benefits in a single-use.
While in the shower or bath, apply some hair mask to your humid hair and let it act or 20 min or so. Be sure to rinse it all off before getting out of the shower.
3) Give yourself a simple facial
I don’t mean pressing blackheads or similar.

What I mean is to take a good look at your face. Remove any unwanted hair that you have been delaying in removing.
While you’re at it, cut any excess white hair that can bring down your appearance (I prefer cutting them than plucking, but then again, I don’t have so much white hair… yet).
4) Face-steaming session
Now you can steam your face, either by holding your head 6 inches over a bowl of previously boiled water with a towel over your head (careful!). Be sure to use something to hold your hair. I am a big fan of these comfortable headbands that keep the hair out of my safe (and also look fabulous).

You can make this process easier by buying a proper facial steamer. They are quite inexpensive and work much better than doing DIY.
5) Exfoliate
The next Spa day at home ideas is to exfoliate with a DIY coffee face scrub.
I have never been into DIY products myself, but lately with the quarantine we have more coffee capsules leftover than usual (plus I ran out of my exfoliator). I tried for the fist time a coffee face exfoliator and I was mind-blown with the results.
If you want my 3-ingredients coffee face scrub recipe, check it out here (I have also included videos on how to prepare and how to apply the scrub).
6) Skincare routine
My favorite part!!
Your face is by now proper and clean. It is time to start applying your Essence, Toner, Serums, etc.
If you feel lost, the post that I previously mentioned about the Korean skin care routine really explains what is what, and as well what is the correct order to apply each product.

7) Sheet Mask
Have you ever tried a sheet mask? These face masks require close to zero prep, yet boast benefits such as brightening, framing, hydrating, or detoxifying skin (depending on the mas you buy).
It is perfect for lazy girls, especially due to its simplicity, low-cost way to kick back and relax without having to spend tons of money getting a facial at a real spa.
8) Clay Mask
I am 100% addicted to clay masks. They are affordable, relaxing and, best of all, they work!
You can buy already-made clay makss from your favorite brand, or you can do it yourself.
I always DIY my own clay masks. It is so easy. All you have to do is buy powder clay and mix it with mineral water, or even a toner.
What’s important is not to mix Bentonite with a metal spoon, because the clay absorbs the metals and becomes less effective and as well not to let it on longer than 10-15 minutes, because it can over-dry your skin.
Follow your clay mask with a hydrating cream for an optimal result.

9) Beauty Devices
Below I will go over my favorite beauty devices so that you can select one that fits your skin needs best.
Derma Roller
Next, use this puffy dark under-eye cream and a face roller to help with the de-puffing of the face.
Alternately, top skincare experts and grandmas all over the globe swear by ice cubes as a skincare tool for years. In fact, DIY ice rolling is one of those cheap and easy spa night ideas that you’ll definitely want to take advantage of.
This can be done by running an ice cube along with puffy areas on your skin.
However, investing in an ice roller could be an easier solution if you plan to do this more often, or if you want to add more glam to your skincare routine (I know, I do)
Finally, finish off with some natural moisturizer to lock in all the skincare products that you just applied.
Ice Globes
Second is my favorite signature beauty care item: Ice Globes for a professional at-home facial. Ever since I started using ice globes for cryotherapy noticed my skin looks younger and revived. I also love how it easily helps with morning puffy face.
I highly recommend you getting an ice globe if you haven’t one yet. Read this post I wrote on Fraicheur Paris Ice Globes and get 15% off.
Opte Skin
Opte Skin is a new revolutionary skincare tool that promises to tackle hyperpigmentaion, dark spots and even blemishes.
Described by Paris Hilton as Photoshop for the skin, this device has beauty lovers all around the world curious.
If you want to know more about it, read my Opte Skin review here.

10) Pedicure and manicure
This doesn’t have to be too complicated. Cut your nails, use a nail file, add some shimmer and add some hydrating creme to the cuticles.

You can also take the extra step and invest in an at-home gel nail kit if you’re looking to keep your hard work lasting even longer.
And that’s a wrap. These are my tips, ideas and recommendations for an easy, yet effective, DIY spa day at home. I hope yo found this useful and that you manage to implement some of my suggestions to pamper yourself at home.
