Since we can’t travel, why not make your home feel like a luxurious hotel? It’s easier thank you think! Get inspired right now with 13 fun and practical ways to revamp your house and have that amazing hotel-feeling inside your home.
Hi girls, how are you today?
I bet you miss traveling right?
Me too.
Covid is ‘celebrating’ a year (though I believe we can hardly call this a reason to celebrate). This darn bug seems never-ending and it is affecting everyone’s lives in a variety of different ways.
Last year, Cris and I were working with many luxury hotels by creating content for them, which is one of the things we most enjoy doing.
Unfortunately, it seems there is still no hard prediction towards when all this will end.
Be it if you haven’t been able to take a vacation, or if you if you had to postpone your honeymoon plans (or even if you simply cannot stand being at home anymore), I bet you also miss leaving your house and staying in hotels, am I right?
The other day, Cris and I were saying how much we also miss being pampered in hotels whenever we travel.
As a hospitality graduate myself, I live and breathe hotels and staying in unique properties whenever I travel is sometimes just as important as the destination.
You don’t need to visit the Burj Al Arab in Dubai or the Peninsula in Hong Kong to relish in magnificent grandeur that fancy hotels have to offer. If you’d like to indulge in a little opulence at home while the travel ban is on-going, you’ll really enjoy this deluxe roundup.
Use these little luxuries to make your house, apartment, bedroom, Airbnb or guest room feel like a luxury hotel.

How To Make Your Home Feel Like a Luxurious Hotel
Display fresh cut flowers.
Ditch the faux flowers. A fantastic way to make your home feel like a luxurious hotel is having a display of fresh flowers and/or live plants to greet you.
Live plants and fresh-cut flowers are a simple and easy way to add a little luxury and make a house or apartment feel like a hotel. If you really want to give a Conde Naste featured hotel kinda vibe, consider displaying fresh cut roses.
If you’d like something with a bit more longevity, consider a Phalaenopsis Orchid or a beautiful Guiana Chestnut Money Tree — both are beautiful, affordable, and easy to care for house plants.

Make your home smell luxurious
If you to make your home feel like a luxurious hotel — make your house smell like a hotel.
Do you know that delicious scent that certain luxurious hotels and retail stores always seem to have? There’s a certain divine aroma when you walk into a luxury hotel that adds up to how luxurious the experience feels.
Scent marketing is the practice of using a pleasant aroma to enhance a company’s brand image, improve customer experience and increase sales
These hotels and stores know that aroma plays a huge factor when it comes to experiences and, thanks to luxurious candles or ambiance sprays, such as these one which smell like Lavender (or even these ultra fresh linen mist) easily purchased on Amazon, you can also make your entire home smell and feel like a hotel.
Some of the most luxurious hotels bottle their scents so you can enjoy the aroma at home. What is your house scent?
Snuggle up in high-end white bed sheets.
Ever wonder why hotel sheets are always white? According to Travel and Leisure, white sheets assure guests that the bed is clean and fresh at all times.
Cleanliness and attention to detail are synonyms of luxury, so don’t skip out on tidying up your home if you want to relish on a hotel experience.

When looking to buy the best quality sheets, opt for a high thread count, or anything in Egyptian cotton is always a safe bet. Moreover, cotton sateen and percale are both widely used among high-end hotels.
Sleep in with blackout curtains.
The light coming through my windows is something that really bothers me, so I am always extra thankful to sleep in hotels simply because they all have amazing ways to block out any type of sunlight coming in.
Don’t let bright sun rays in to wake you on an early Sunday morning. High-quality hotel style blackout curtains will ensure you sleep right throughout the entire night.
Grab a set of these inexpensive Niceown blackout curtains on Amazon.
Load your bed with large, feathery pillows.
I am a HUGE pillow fanatic (I am always looking for new additions to my house), and large feathery pillows are an affordable way to make your bedroom look and feel like a high-end hotel at all times.
If you want to make your home feel like a five stars experience, be sure to add some fluffy feathery pillows to rest your pretty little head on overnight.
TIP: Did you know that the Beckham Hotel hypoallergenic pillows are an Amazon best seller?
Show off stylish coffee table books.
Some books are meant for reading, while others are meant to look stylish on your coffee table (and occasionally flip through for visual inspiration).
My second home decor addiction has to be decorating coffee tables. In my opinion, there is nothing like a stunning coffee table decorating the center of your living room. It just adds such an elegant touch to any home.
Make your house look like a hotel by displaying stylish coffee table books, such as travel, hotels and destination guides.

Have Treats Welcome You Home
A small detail that many high-end hotels practice is welcoming guests with a handwritten note signed by the general manager accompanied by a few sweet treats.
You can replicate this idea and make your house feel like a hotel by displaying an elegant bowl of tasty chocolate bites or assorted candy, such as these gourmet, handmade salted caramels at the entrance of your home (or to indulge after dinner) – Just try not to gobble them up in one day!
Wake Up to Fresh Espresso.
If you’re a coffee drinker, it is time to be a proper adult woman and invest in a good coffee or espresso machine so you can enjoy your caffeine kick in the morning at home. If you want a recommendation, Nespresso’s De’Longhi Coffee and Espresso Machine is the ultimate luxury.
Complement the experience by having a charming coffee set, foam maker, and biscuits to enjoy altogether with your morning brew.
Make things interesting by jazzing up your coffees: ice coffee one day, cappuccino the next. The sky is the limit when you have your very own coffee machine.
Not a coffee drinker? Not a problem! Have a glass of freshly squeezed juice.
Sometimes better than a fresh cup of warm coffee in the morning is a freshly squeezed glass of orange juice, of course (rest assured that the most luxurious hotels in the world aren’t serving Minute Maid).
Start your morning extra special with fresh jus d’orange (or any other favorite fruit juice). I use this inexpensive citrus juicer to make my fresh orange juice in the mornings and I absolutely love it.
Boost The Bedside With Bluetooth or Smart speakers.
Luxury hotels always have Bluetooth speaker bedside in the rooms. Whether it’s to play your favorite podcast in the morning, the latest news, or your work out tunes — great Bluetooth speakers are absolutely essential in any luxury hotel.
If you haven’t installed an Alexa at your house, I am not sure what you’re still waiting for. There is nothing quite as addictive as asking Alexa for the day’s weather forecast, or simply to check how far is the closest pharmacy.
I keep this Sonos smart speaker bedside to wake me up to some nice music in the morning. You can also move it around the house or throw it in your bag for a beach day or picnic.
Make Time for High Tea
Have you ever had high tea at a five-star hotel? If you’ve ever stayed at a luxury property in cities such as Hong Kong, for example, high tea is not only a luxury, it is a lifestyle.
In fact, when I was visiting Hong Kong, many times my friends and I would select a favorite hotel and go for high tea, even if we were not staying at the property.
There is something quite fabulous and addicting when it comes to high tea. From a selection of yummy tastings, varying from sweets and savory snacks, high tea is a great idea for either couple of groups of friends.
This layered tower is a must-have for you if you want to replicate high-tea at home. Complement it with this adorable vintage or this feminine tea set, or spice the day up with some mimosas or rose wine.
Wrap Yourself Up in A Fabulous Bathrobe.

Aren’t the terry bathrobes at fancy hotels divine? They’re soft, plush, and oh…. so luxurious!
Huge and comfy bathrobes were the first thing I bought Cris and me when we moved into our new apartment. We love getting out of the shower and laying around in fluff for a while, before changing into pajamas.
If you want your home to feel like a luxury hotel, invest in nice bathrobes when you hop out of the shower.

Wrap up in big fluffy towels.
High-end white towel gives a clean, spa-like feel to any bathroom — whether that’s saved for guests or just a little extra luxury for everyday life, and big, fluffy white towels are the epitome of hotel living.
Transform your home into a modern-day sanctuary and your bathroom into a mini-spa with deliciously soft, comfy elegant white bath towels.
BONUS:
All luxury hotels offer a Spa service. Being that Spas are usually not exactly an affordable experience, I have created an entire post on how to have a Spa-like experience at home.
Call for Breakfast in Bed

Probably the best part about staying at a luxury hotel? Being spoiled with a scrumptious breakfast in bed, am I right?
Set your hotel experience for success and pre-order a delicious breakfast basket with your favorite morning foods from a trusted seller in your area

Hi Margot, I’m happy you like these ideas. Yes, the inspiration came exactly from the fact that we’ve been spending so much time inside that we might as well make an experience out of it 🙂
have a great start to your week!
I loved these tips! I tried to make my home the best hotel I could ever visit! I worked hard, but now I’m enjoying my beautiful home. As you show, even little things can change completely the atmosphere. Thanks for sharing your advices! Wish you the best 🙂

Hi Dasynka, I am super happy you’ve enjoyed these tips. My favorite tip from the above list at my house is to always have fresh flowers. Right now I have a beautiful bouquet of red + white roses and the house feels so nice. It’s such a treat to be welcomed by fresh flowers.
Happy to hear your home is also getting super cozy.
have a great day!
Hugs, Ana
I love all these suggesitons! I always try to get fresh flowers and and burn candles. Need to get new fluffy towels!
https://www.kathrineeldridge.com
Hi Kathrine, yes same here. Replacing my towels is something that I’ve been meaning to do since I’ve changed flats in December. Time is passing by so fast that I still didn’t have the time to buy them.
Thanks for stopping by!
I love this post and such a great idea!

Hi Nina, truly happy to hear you enjoyed this post. I also had a blast writing it and getting creative at home right after 🙂

Hi Ana, such a fun post, and I love these ideas to create a hotel vibe in your own home. I love having plants to warm up my space, and having high-tea is a cute idea! My girls and I have tea time, so I like the idea of making it fancier. I need some stylish coffee table books too. Thanks for the suggestions, and I hope you have an amazing week!
Hi Martha, how are you dear? The high tea idea is also one of my favorites. It is so nice to enjoy a good beverage with some sweet + savory snacks, elegantly displayed right? My friends also go crazy about it (though sometimes we change the tea for wine or champagne ha ha). I’ve been meaning to buy some new coffee table books for a while as well (since we moved we are only displaying Cris’s photography books, but I need a feminine touch for our coffee table asap).
Have a beautiful day, hon. 🙂
Hugs, Ana
The bluetooth speaker idea is great! I have a Google Nest and I don’t know why I have never thought to have it in my bedroom for the mornings. I usually have it in the living room to play some chill music when I’m reading, but now I’m thinking I may need to start moving it to my room at night so it’s there in the morning haha!
Kate | asimplesliceofkate.com
Hi Kate, ha ha yesss Google next to the bed is quite addictive. It’s so impressive the amount of tasks this little thing can do right? We were lucky to received a second one as a gift when we changed phone companies so now we are kinda spoiled at home 🙂
Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day!
Ana
Aw, love all these tips! I literally told my husband the other day that I’m going to be splurging on an expensive bed set later this year haha everything including chopped pillows! Thanks for sharing xx
http://www.lynnmumbingmejia.com
Hi Lynn, yesss same here. I am just waiting for it to get a tad bit warmer to invest in linen bed sheets this year. I love how they look + feel (huge linen fans here). I 100% relate to you! 🙂
Hugs,
Ana
It feels like we have been dealing with Covid even longer than a year at this point, but I’m so thankful that it looks like things are getting a little better with that. I love the idea of making your home a luxurious place. I believe our surroundings really do affect us, so I think all of these are awesome ways to make home feel a little more special. 🙂 I have blackout curtains and they are a game changer. I also love my coffee in the morning, though I don’t have an espresso maker…yet. 😉
Make Life Marvelous
Hi Ashley 🙂
I also cannot believe this. When I look at pictures from a bit over a year ago it feels like it was another life. It’s crazy how used to living like this we got, but I am also hoping for better days as soon as possible.
Yes, we also got blackouts when we moved to our new flat and it is game-changing (though if I may say, it is a bit harder to get out of bed now ha ha).
Have a great start to your week, dear <3
Hugs,
Ana
These are brilliant tips to feel luxurious! I need to plan a high tea escapade soon.
xoxo

Hi Lovely, I totally feel ya! high tea is not only luxurious, but a delicious treat. I love having my friends over to splurge on some savory + sweet bites (though sometimes we change the tea for wine or champagne – oops) 😉
Hugs, Ana
Love this! Such a fun way to feel like you’re travelling when you’re not! My boyfriend and I always say a jar of fresh fruit juice on the table at breakfast always makes us feel like we’re on holiday! haha But that could just be us!
Katie | katieemmabeauty.com
haha fresh juice is the wayyy 🙂 I love it too. We’re so spoiled in Barcelona. The fruit is super cheap and so sweet, so we always buy a big basket of oranges (we just restocked today). It’s honestly the best feeling in the mornings. 😉
Hugs, Ana
LOVE all these ideas! The coffee table book and fresh flowers would be so ideal in my space right now,
XX Angelica
https://eraenvogue.com
Hi Angelica, I know I am such a huge fan of fresh flowers. I like to buy flowers that last a long time, such as orchids so this way my house looks fresh for a longer period of time 🙂
This is such a great post for elevating our home atmosphere! Since I moved in with my boyfriend when the pandemic started a year ago, I have been working hard on the interior design and making it feel like home. Making the place smell good makes such a big difference! I always have candles on deck. I need to try blackout curtains!
Jill
https://jilliancecilia.com/
Hi Jill, I can totally relate. We’re the same. My boyfriend and I rcecently changed flat back in December and all we do is obsess over interior design. We’ve watched every video on YouTube on this subject ha ha Plus that’s where all our money is going lately: making our home feel and look amazing (and it’s paid off because we’ve never been happier). I’m glad you liked this post! Have a wonderful day!
Hugs,
Ana
Oh man, I wish I was at the 5-star hotel right now! Your tips are great, I can definitely implement some of them, like fresh flowers, quality candles, white sheets….Thanks!
yess to all, and investing in good quality, white sheets makes suuuuuch a difference. It’s honestly amazing to snuggle up, especially during lazy Sunday mornings with a nice book. So glad you liked this post, Diana!
Hugs, Ana
I don’t know if you’ve heard of hygge, but this reminds me of that. I love every single idea on this list. I’ve really tried to make my apartment a space that I want to be in every day over the last year. I’m saving this for additional ideas! ♥️
Hi Kelly, I had never heard of hygge but I immediately googled it and it is indeed my kinda word 😉 Loved learning this new word and I will implement it more regularly. And same here, since last year I have been putting all of my money into making my home as comfy as possible (and it pays off, I’ve never felt so good staying home). Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!
x Ana
I love every single one of those ideas! I can imagine how you guys must feel, being used to traveling so often and meanwhile, being stuck at home (me too, and I hear you!). But, this post is the perfect example that mindset means so much, and you can turn a situation around to have it benefit you in an unexpected way 🙂 Thinking out of the box here! I love all the ideas you are outlining to make your home feel like a hotel. A few of them are already on my off-day checklist but I can definitely implement some more! Starting with more scented candles, more fresh flowers and blackout curtains. Thanks for the lovely inspiration! Love, Susanne
Hi Susanne, thank you for taking your time to leave me such a beautiful comment. And I am really happy you’ve enjoyed the content of this post, I also had a lot of fun writing it and getting some ideas to implement at my house as well. I must say that having fresh flower is a huge game-changer and they make me so happy every time i step inside my home (I try to leave fresh bouquet at the entrance). Speaking of scented candles, just yesterday I went to Zara home and restocked a bunch of candles (taking advantage of their sales while they last). Have a beautiful day! 🙂
Such great tips! Home is more important than ever at the moment so it’s great to make some improvements.
