Opte Skin Review | Is OPTE Really Like Photoshop For Your Skin?
Hi girls, how are you today?
Do you suffer from hyperpigmentation or dark spots?
My skin used to be as smooth as a porcelain doll until 2020 happened. Out of a sudden, acne started popping like popcorn all around my cheeks and chin.
Call it hormones, call it stress… Regardless of the reason behind my adult acne, I couldn’t help but feel horrible during those months.
I am not one to pop pimples, so I was surprised when after the acne cleared up, my skin remained with blemishes and dark spots to remind me of the acne days.
I’ve tried everything. From high-end skincare products to cheaper ones. Nothing was seemingly strong enough,
Granted, the blemishes started easing away. But the dark spots remained and bothered me more than I care to admit.
That’s why I was so happy to be contacted by a representative of Opte to test out their famous Opte wand for hyperpigmentation and dark spots.
Before, I’ve always heard celebrities such as Paris Hilton attest that Opte Skin was a Photoshop for dark spots,. But let’s be real: how much can we actually trust celebrities?
That’s why today I am giving my honest review of the Opte device review.
Find my before and after pictures at the end of this post after testing Opte for myself.
First things first: What is OPTE Skin all about?
Some would call Opte a 3D printing makeup device for the skin.
This means that, by covering your blemishes and dark spots, you will have your skin feeling as if you just applied foundation.

The Opte website claims that Opte is an award-winning skincare solution that camouflages dark spots, sunspots, and age spots. The device basically works like a makeup printer (they claim it to be “makeup for dark spots”).
Technically speaking, Opte is a handheld inkjet serum printer that digitally scans your skin so that it analyzes your complexions (you hear clicking noises as you roll it out on your face and the slower you apply it, the more clicking noises you hear).
The OPTE camera captures over 200 images every second and scans the skin with blue light to looks for areas that are darker than your skin color.
Once the OPTE wand identifies the dark spots in your skin, the device will then deposit microscopic droplets of tinted serum via an inkjet printer to make them disappear.
The device promises to camouflage hyperpigmentation, while also fading sun spots over time.
The OPTE Wand
The high-tech Opte wand uses a digital camera (and a safe blue light) to scan and detect spots. When utilizing the wand, the smart device applies the serum only where it is needed so your skin looks even.

The OPTE Serum
Opte offers 3 serums for different skin tones: Deep, Medium, and Fair.
Its formula combines mineral pigments and other powerful skincare ingredients, with no added sulfates, parabens, dyes, artificial colors, formaldehyde, phthalates, fragrances, or any animal-derived ingredients.

How Do You Use OPTE?
The OPTE guide instructs us to use the device with the 4S application technique (Soft, Slow, Straight, and Sweep). Below I will explain what this means:
- SOFT: The lighter you press while applying the serum, the better it will work.
- SLOW: Each stroke of the Opte wand should take about 3 – 5 seconds.
- STRAIGHT: Do not tilt the wand
- SWEEP: Keep the Wand on your skin and work in long, broad strokes, this means for you to avoid lifting it off your skin during passes.
How long does it take to apply the serum with OPTE?
OPTE has a learning curve, so the first few uses may take over 10 minutes and, once you get more experienced, you’ll see it shouldn’t take you more than 5 minutes to apply the serum all over your skin.
OPTE Device Review
First Impressions
First of all, I must admit that the Opte packaging is impressive.
The packaging is a stunning, minimalist white box, and you immediately feel like you’re receiving a luxurious device. Inside comes a charging kit with the Opte wand, and a manual with the device instructions.
The Opte wand is extremely lightweight, which surprised me when I compare it to my other skincare tools, such as Foreo, which are a bit heavier.
This big box comes accompanied by a smaller white box that contains a conditioning disk and a serum for your skin tone (I decided to try the ‘fair tone’ serum).
However, as we know, a book should never be judged by its cover. So, are the Opte device results as impressive as its packaging is?
Let us find out right now!
Turning On My OPTE Device
In all honesty, I was a bit scared of installing Opte wrongly and end up ruining the device. For such a premium price, you might get scared of messing things up and wasting your money.
So I admit it took me longer to properly turn it on and install it. However, as soon as I got the balls to test it, I figured it was actually very simple.
Some parts of the instruction were not super clear to me, but I simply went to their website for further information and I quickly cleared all doubts I had until that point.
Also, I had a misconception about the charging device. I thought I’d have to wait for a good 10 minutes for the device to charge, such as with my Foreo beauty tools.
But no, it is a matter of seconds. The charging box mostly activates the wand and the serum and in less than a minute after turning it on, you’re good to go!
My Thoughts Applying OPTE Skin for the First Time
The Opte application is fairly simple.
As they say on their website, use the 4S application: Soft, Slow, Straight, and Sweep.
At first, I was applying it in a downward motion only, but then I noticed that I could do up and down strokes and the process got easier.
Initial Results

Ok, here it goes.
After the initial application, I was not too impressed. Honesty, I didn’t even know if it was working or not because I could not see serum coming out from the wand. Granted, the device made the promised noises as I made my up + downstrokes, but I was initially underwhelmed.
“Is this thing actually working?”, I kept asking myself ‘’Should I see or feel serum in my skin?”
I was so upset because I really wanted to like this device.
“Maybe this device doesn’t work on acne blemishes”, I kept thinking to myself.
After so many other skincare products, this was my Opte-Wand Kenobi, my only hope for my acne blemishes (little Star wars pun there).
After a few minutes with a disappointed feeling inside my heart, I thought it seemed that my blemishes were slowly less evident.
“Could this be?” I asked myself, as I quickly approached my face to my mirror ‘’Am I seeing things?”
Half thinking I could be seeing things out of optimism, I simply kept on applying the product, not really sure about its effects.
After a good 10 minutes of application, I decided that was enough for the day and put my Opte wand down.
I made my way towards my room, where I had taken the before pictures just a few minutes earlier and that is when my jaw DROPPED.

OPTE Skin Before and After
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so please see for yourself the results (keep in mind that I hate posting pictures of me without makeup, but this is 100% worth it).
I couldn’t believe my freakin’ eyes!!!!
How could this be? At first, I wasn’t even sure if the device was working yet, when I checked my before and after pictures, I could barely believe how evident the effects were after ONE SINGLE APPLICATION.
I kept exclaiming “WOW!” and checking my skin.
It looked as if I had applied a light foundation (it really does work as makeup for dark spots]. The effects were obviously evident.
PS. Regarding the Opte Refill: It is also worth noting that even after 10+ minutes of applying the product, its serum was still marked at 100% full.
I believe this is valuable information, as I was concerned with how fast the serum would run out (after all, the serum is needed to keep applying the wand).

Conclusion
Well, girls, I am honestly mind-blown!!!
After a lot of initial doubts, I must say that this device is wonderful to cover hyperpigmentation (acne blemishes included).
Again, this Opte device review was written after only one single application. Only once and the results were what you see in the before and after pictures. I honestly cannot wait to keep on applying Opte regularly.
If you suffer from hyperpigmentation like sunspots, melasma, or acne marks and you’re looking for an innovative tool to tackle these from the comfort of your home and without the need of a chemical peel, then I’d say give OPTE a try.
I am sorry you skin started breaking out that sucks. But glad you found this device. It really does appear to working. Very informative post!

Hi Allie, omg, it broke out so bad that I had even forgotten how it looked. Last night I had a dinner with a friend and I showed her some pictures from last year and I was impressed. I don’t know how I didn’t panic last year with the skin I had. Damn hormonal acne.
Thank you for stopping by, dear!
Hugs, Ana
Hi Ana, I haven’t heard of this product before, so thanks for such a thorough post! I get hormonal acne too. It’s such a bummer having adult acne. This device sounds amazing, and glad that it made such a difference for you. I hope you are having a wonderful week, my friend:)
Martha, xo
This hormonal acne is terrible right? I am having more acne-related issues in my 30s rather than I ever had as a teen. They promised this would be a thing of the past by now !! *grrrrrr*
I hope all is well with you, my dear.
Many hugs,
Ana
Hi Ana, I’m very happy that you found a way to solve your skin problems. This device seems amazing! I have suffered for acne too, so I know what does it mean. I used different serums and products, and now also my skin looks better 🙂 I will remember this device for the next time!

Hi Dasynka, thank you for your comment. Adult acne is horrible right? Every time I get rid of one, a new one seems to find a way to appear. it is a never ending story, regardless of how well I treat my skin. I totally get you too. Hope your skin is under control now.
Have a wonderful weekend ahead! 🙂
Hugs, Ana

Hi Julia, yes, the product is really nice and my blemishes are slowly going away. I love testing out beauty devices and it always amazes me what the industry can come up with.
Have a lovely start to your week!
Hugs, Ana
Hi Ana, wondering what the long term effects are, do your scars diminish and fade after consistent use for a few months? Interested to know
Nicely written honest review. How is it over time? More impressed or less? Can you share “after” photo from longer time period?
Hey Ana, or you could do 3 Clear and Brilliant treatments for about $900 total and actually 100% change your skin permanently including hyperpigmentation, acne, scars, bumpy skin and signs of aging.
oh yeaa, that is for sure another solution. Might as well right? 🙂
