If you have an oily scalp, for example, you’ll need to wash your hair frequently to avoid sebum building up on your scalp. You do not need to wash your hair every day, but keep your hair wash routine based on how oily your hair feels and looks.
Creating a hair care routine is easy and involves maintaining the health of your hair and applying beneficial products to your hair.
Before jumping into the specifics, here are the basics of a healthy hair wash day, in order of application:
- Salon-quality shampoo – for your specific hair type
- Salon-quality Conditioner – to help recover your hair’s natural oils
- Heat protection – to avoid frizzy hair
- Premium Volumizer or mousse – especially good for thin hair
- Then you can dry and style your hair
- Shine serum – to keep your hair free of dryness (apply to dry hair ends)

If you heat style your hair on a regular basis, the heat from the blow dryer, flat iron, or curling wand is going to make your hair dry. Your hair will lose moisture easily and start becoming frizzy.

2. Natural Oils: Wash Your Hair But Don’t Over-wash It
Irrespective of your hair type, you need to make sure that you wash it properly with shampoo and keep it clean. But washing your hair every day is far from what the (hair) doctor recommends.
Washing your hair removes dirt, environmental pollutants, and product buildup. But it’s not a good idea to go overboard with washing your hair as it can remove the natural oils. This can result in hair damage, dryness, and breakage.
